In a cold weather, when the thermometer showed -15°C, Messiah church, Stara Zagora handed out tea to the passers – by. The weather forecast for freezingly cold weather was the calling in the hearts of a group of volunteers from our church to help the people, who did not have the chance to stay at home in the severe weather conditions.

This decision was born because of our sensitiveness towards the Holy Spirit, who always sends us on the right time in the right place to help, where help is needed and to help with whatever we can do. We are thankful to God that He gave us strength and boldness and we did not feel tired or cold. Our teams worked from 25 to 28 January from 7a.m. till 7p.m. May God bless all the Christians who took part in this campaign, for their selfless care and deed – Vania and Ivan Ivanovi, Bojidar Genev, Tanya Nesheva, Nikolina Kabadieva, Radka Tileva and Stela. Our volunteers were very sensitive to the needs of the people. The first day was the most intensive one, because the lack of heating in the two near-by schools brought almost all their students for a cup of tea. But the children came not only for a cup of hot tea, but they were also able to warm themselves in the ‘ warming place’, where we had heaters switched on. Then they asked us a lot of questions – why we are helping them, they asked us about our faith in God and in the bible. This was the perfect time for us to share the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. We gave to the children who wanted Bible for kids, New Testament of the newspaper ‘Living water’ depending on their age.

Working people also visited us on their way to the work places, along with pensioners and homeless people. Neighbours from the quarters where the church is situated, who had never talked with us came also. So, throughout these four days the people came not only to take a cup of hot tea but to receive new testaments and to talk with us about the faith. God broke walls and prejudices because of out prayers and the love that we have shown. These days turned into ‘the days of the open doors’ for Messiah church, because we showed the building to the people who wanted to. This stirred great interest. The people were impressed by the pleasant atmosphere. Students were mostly impressed by the musical instruments of the praise and worship team. In these freezing four days in January, the Christians from Messiah church, Stara Zagora set up warm relationships with children and neighbours.
