On February 21, 2010 Ivo Shatrovski was guest of Messiah church. He is a missionary and he travels east to India, North and South Korea, Indonesia and other countries. The church loves his stories from missionary trips, because they inflame desire for mission participation in the people. During the service he told us about his trip to Indonesia - the country with the biggest Muslim population in the world. He arrives at the city of Padang two days after the destroying earthquake. The city is without electricity, water or food. Ivo participated in the searching for any survivors. Then he leaves for the island of Severut, which is his target destination. He collects information for the native tribes almost one year. He arrives in a small village and then he walks 35 km on foot through the jungle. He is moving along with three more Indonesian Christians. They arrive in the next village. There they slept on the wooden floor. They share their food with their hosts. They had only 2 liters of water per person for the whole trip. They had very heavy luggage on their backs (including gasoline for the canoe) and a hard terrain - slippery soil under their feet, thorns in front of their eyes and poisonous snakes, which were prowling in the thicket. And so on the other day they continue with a canoe along the river. They arrive on the final destination. They knew that the natives are not very hospitable, but by surprise a native with a girdle welcomed them with a friendly behaviour. They start a conversation with a triple interpretation. It turns out that a catholic priest told them about the faith in Christ 3 years ago. Our friends visited some of the houses that belong to the natives. As they were walking out they were joined by curious people, who spent time talking to God, praying for forgiveness of sins and sincerely accepted Jesus into their hearts. On the river bank they encountered another native, who appear to be rather than Catholic. Previously been bahaets. Acquainted with some Biblical truths, however he has not heard of the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gift of speaking in tongues according to Acts of the Apostles 2 chapter. While Ivo was explaining to him he was baptized. And so it was time to return back to the first village. There were several churches in that vilage and one of these Pentecostal. This Pentecostal church also was not aware of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. During worship on Sunday, after the sermon of brother Ivo, the majority of people attending (about 30 people) began to fill with the Spirit and speak in tongues, just as in the early church. After Ivo told the pastor of this church for their journey through the jungle and the contact with those tribes, he was encouraged to take responsibility as local believers to go to them with the Word of God and the goal to establish new churches. Indonesian pastor promised before God and the missionaries, they will find a way to reach their compatriots from the jungle.
After the story for Indonesia, Ivo Shatrovski encouraged all believers to be brave and not to be afraid of anything. Thus the Lord commanded Joshua: 1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage;do not be afraid, nor be dismayed: for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Praise God for the missionaries, who are brave enough to go to the ends of the world and preach the Gospel.
